What is a certificate of electrical safety?
A certificate issued after electrical installation work that confirms the work was tested and complies with the rules. For most wiring work in Victoria the electrician must lodge one. It is reasonable to ask the electrician to confirm the certificate is included in their price.
My power keeps tripping. What should I put in the job description?
Note which circuit trips, how often, what was running at the time, and the age of the property if you know it. A photo of your switchboard helps an electrician quote accurately without a site visit.
Can I supply my own light fittings?
Usually yes. Say so in the job description, since it changes the quote: the electrician prices labour and materials separately, and you stay responsible for the quality of the fittings you supply.
How much does a switchboard upgrade cost?
